Q: Why will our medical team be using Genea’s facilities and services from 18 May 2026?
A: Embrace has always led the way in clinical innovation, and our medical team has chosen to use the facilities and services of Genea from 18 May 2026 because they share our team’s commitment to research and advancing patient care. Genea’s laboratories consistently deliver some of the highest pregnancy rates in Australia through their world-leading technology. The upcoming arrangements between our medical team and Genea will mean that you get the personalised care you’ve always had at Embrace, but you’ll soon be backed by the most advanced laboratory capabilities available in Australia.
Q: Who is Genea?
A: Genea is Australia’s leading fertility provider with clinics across Australia. Genea’s laboratories consistently achieve some of the highest pregnancy rates in Australia through their proprietary technology and 40 years of embryology research and development. The upcoming arrangements between our medical team and Genea will give you access to this world-leading laboratory capability while maintaining your care with the Embrace team you know.
Q: What is FertilitySA powered by Genea, and how does it relate to Embrace?
A: FertilitySA is another fertility clinic in Adelaide, From 18 May 2026, the doctors and clinical teams of both Embrace and FertilitySA will use the same world-leading Genea laboratory at St Andrews Hospital, but remain independent clinics with our own doctors and clinical teams. You’ll continue seeing your Embrace doctors and nurses — the only change will be that your procedures and laboratory work will happen at the shared Genea laboratory at St Andrews.
Q: Will my doctor and care team change?
A: No. Your doctor, nurses, and the entire Embrace Fertility team will remain the same. You’ll continue to see the same familiar faces for all your consultations and appointments at Embrace Fertility.
Q: Is Embrace Fertility closing?
A: No, Embrace Fertility is not closing. Your clinic remains open and your consultations will continue at Embrace Fertility. The only change is that from 18 May 2026, our medical team will perform all of your procedures and laboratory work at St Andrews Hospital using Genea’s advanced laboratory facilities.
About your appointments and treatment
Q: Where will my appointments take place from 18 May 2026?
A: All your consultations and appointments will continue at Embrace Fertility. Procedures such as egg collections, embryo transfers, and sperm processing will take place at St Andrews Hospital, 350 South Terrace, Adelaide SA 5000.
Q: Do I need to re-register or fill out new forms?
A: No, you don’t need to re-register or complete new patient forms. Consent forms for new procedures will need to be signed for procedures at St Andrews Hospital as required. If you elect to continue with a member of our medical team who will be using the Genea laboratory, there will be forms and a consent to complete to enable your genetic material to be transferred from Repromed to Genea.
Q: Will my treatment plan change?
A: Your doctor will review your treatment plan with you to ensure continuity of care. While our clinical approach and philosophy remain unchanged, your doctor will discuss your individual plan and how we can best support you moving forward from 18 May 2026 with Genea’s advanced laboratory technology and comprehensive fertility services.
Q: What happens if I’m currently in a treatment cycle when the change happens?
A: If you’re mid-cycle when members of our team transition to using Genea facilities and services, your Embrace doctor will work with you to complete your cycle smoothly. Your doctor will discuss the specific plan for your situation to ensure continuity of care.
Q: When does this change take effect?
A: Procedures will be performed at St Andrews Hospital from 18 May 2026. If you’re unsure how this affects your specific cycle, please speak with your doctor or nurse who will be happy to talk you through your individual plan.
About stored genetic material
Q: I have eggs, sperm, or embryos stored at Repromed. What happens to them?
A: We can arrange for your genetic material to be safely transferred from Repromed to Genea. The transfer will be handled by specialist experienced couriers using the same high standards of security and safety that Genea provides at no cost to you. Please contact us at 1300 848 470 or care@embracefertility.org to arrange this transfer.
Q: Do I have to transfer my genetic material from Repromed?
A: If you choose to continue treatment with your Embrace doctor and team after 18 May 2026, we’ll need to transfer your genetic material to the laboratory at Genea. If you prefer to keep your material at Repromed, you will need to transfer your care to a Repromed doctor. Contact us at 1300 848 470 or care@embracefertility.org to discuss your options.
Q: Will my storage agreements change?
A: Once you transfer your genetic material to Genea, the ongoing storage fees will be invoiced by FertilitySA (being the company that operates the Genea laboratory).
Q: Is it safe to transfer my eggs, sperm, or embryos?
A: Your genetic material will be transported by specialist experienced couriers who are highly trained in the safe transport of genetic material. The same high standards of security and safety that you expect from Genea will be maintained throughout the transfer process.
Q: Will there be any cost to transfer my genetic material?
A: There will be no charge for patients to transfer genetic material from Repromed.
About donor material
Q: I’m using donor eggs, sperm, or embryos. Can these be transferred?
A: If you have embryos created using a known donor, these can be transferred to us. However, if you have eggs, sperm, or embryos created from a donor bank, our donor team will need to investigate if you can transfer these to us. Q: What are my options if I’m using donor bank material that can’t be transferred?
A: We understand this may be disappointing, and we’re here to discuss your options with you. Please contact our donor team at donor.coordinator@genea.com.au or 02 8815 8527 so we can talk through your individual circumstances and the best path forward for your treatment.
Q: I’m a donor. What happens to my donated material?
A: Please contact our donor team at donor.coordinator@genea.com.au or 02 8815 8527 to discuss the specific arrangements for donor material and how this transition affects you.
About costs and billing
Q: Will my treatment costs change?
A: Treatment fees will be broadly comparable. There may be some variations as we transition to the new laboratory facilities. Your Embrace Finance Team will provide you with clear pricing before you proceed with any treatment at St Andrews Hospital, so there will be no surprises.
Q: Will my health insurance still cover treatment?
A: Yes, your health insurance coverage for day surgery continues as before. If you have any specific questions about your coverage, please contact your health insurer or speak with our patient care team.
